On March 20, De la Luz welcomes guitarist and composer David Fiuczynski and his electrifying project KiF.
Fiuczynski has spent decades expanding the vocabulary of the electric guitar — blending jazz, funk, rock, global traditions, and microtonal language into a sound that is both deeply studied and wildly alive. All About Jazz writes that he plays “all the notes, even the ones in between the twelve those other guitarists usually play.” His work has been praised for its “limitless technique and imagination,” delivered with complete authority.
KiF is rhythmically fierce, harmonically adventurous, and grounded in groove. It is music that moves the body and challenges the ear at the same time.
Joining him is Gabriel Marin, described as a “fusion wizard” with “insane chops” and rare mastery of fretless and microtonal guitar. Marin bridges Middle Eastern maqam traditions and modern improvisation with remarkable fluency. Critics have called him “a fretless guitar virtuoso whose microtonal adventures rival many Eastern musicians.”
Together, these two guitarists create a layered, percussive, high-voltage dialogue that crosses cultures and genres without hesitation.
If you love daring musicianship, cross-cultural collaboration, and artists who treat the stage like a laboratory — this night is for you.
